Wonderful wildlife

At 3:00 p.m. yesterday, with school back in session, the Lake St. Clair Metro Park had few people but lots of wildlife, including these Canada geese, a crane and heron. I always feel fortunate to see a crane or heron, but to see both in one day was a joy.

Saugatuck Stroll

A visit with friends in Holland, MI, led to a side trip to Saugatuck, MI, a town I had never visited. It is a quaint tourist town on the banks of the Kalamazoo River. Shops and restaurants line the streets, with gardens and parks tucked in along the way.

Early spring in Ireland

I traveled to Ireland last month visit friends who live near Dublin. We visited Powerscourt Gardens and then the Powerscourt Waterfall, which is a few miles from the Garden.

We also spent some time in Dublin (at the National Gallery of Ireland and St. Stephen’s Green).

Autumn yellow flowers

Ms. Liz explores colours in New Zealand and her post on spring yellow flowers inspired me to notice the autumn yellow flowers on my walk at the Lake St. Clair Metro Park in southeast Michigan. The flowers may not be as abundant as spring flowers and the colors may not be as vibrant, but they still made me smile.
